Jaybird is run by Julia Bird who writes ‘I grew up in Gloucestershire and now live and work in London. My first jobs were in theatre and arts education, then I moved to the Poetry Book Society to develop my interest in contemporary poetry and learn how to market, promote and support both books and writers.
After working as a freelance literature promoter for a number of years, I set up Jaybird in 2006 – a business which produces its own live literature events and also manages projects on behalf of other organisations. My useful qualifications are in arts education, teaching basic literacy and creative writing; my areas of expertise are contemporary poetry, arts and literature marketing and author tour management. I have a wide spread of contacts in the literature world, a wealth of ideas, a dozen years of experience and I am a member of the National Association of Literature Development.
