From high noon to neon-lit midnight, from the hum of a strip light to the gleam of the moon, six spot-lit writers trace the course of light through the day in a series of newly commissioned poems. What's illuminated, what stays in the shadows: follow the poets as they bring the day's discoveries into the light.
A three part project ... we commissioned new pieces from Raymond Antrobus, Malika Booker, Holly Corfield Carr, Jane Draycott, Caleb Klaces and Richard Price, and director Tamar Saphra combined them with some classic light poems into a sell out show for NPD Live (8 October at Southbank Centre).
Then, we made a set of films of some of the poems with Corinne Silva for your online edification - view them to your right.
Finally, a pocket version of the show visited a couple of poetry festivals in 2016.
Beginning to See the Light is commissioned by Jaybird Live Literature and the Poetry Society, in association with Southbank Centre, and the whole lot is funded by Arts Council England. Thanks and a share of the limelight go to them.
